Begin your Path with Confidence

Imagine finally taking the step you’ve always dreamed of — learning to read, recite, and understand with confidence. Picture yourself developing the confidence to read Arabic, engage with the Qur’an, and express yourself clearly. This programme lays the groundwork for higher studies, giving adult learners the tools to move from uncertainty to ability, and from aspiration to achievement.

Overview

At Insight Institute for Islamic and Technical Studies (Ma’had al-Baseerah), we believe that early childhood is one of the most important and influential stages in a person’s life. During this period, children are naturally curious, highly adaptable, and deeply impressionable. They easily absorb the culture around them and respond strongly to the type of education and care they receive.

This stage—longer than any other except youth—lays the foundation for the kind of person a child will become. That’s why we are committed to making the most of this critical window of development.

Our goal is to shape well-rounded, confident, and morally upright young Muslims who will, by Allah’s grace, grow to carry the message of Islam with wisdom, compassion, and purpose. Through a nurturing environment, values-based learning, and age-appropriate Islamic guidance, we aim to raise a generation prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Objective

  1. To Nurture Islamic Identity: Instill core Islamic values and character from an early age, fostering love for Allah ﷻ, the Prophet ﷺ, and the teachings of Islam through engaging and age-appropriate methods
  2. To support holistic development: Promote the emotional, social, cognitive, physical, and spiritual growth of each child in a balanced and nurturing environment.
  3. To build strong foundations for learning: Develop early literacy, communication, and thinking skills in both Arabic and English, preparing children for a smooth transition into primary education

Curriculum Outline

Our Pre-Basic program is thoughtfully designed to nurture a love for learning, build a strong Islamic identity, and develop essential language and literacy skills. The curriculum is structured around four key areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking, all integrated with moral and spiritual development.

Reading

Qur’an Memorization:

Over two academic years, children memorize Juz’ 30 and Juz’ 29 of the Qur’an. These portions are carefully distributed throughout the school year, with one-third of each Juz’ covered per term.

Arabic Letter Recognition and Pronunciation:

Pupils learn to identify and pronounce Arabic letters individually, in pairs, and in simple combinations. This includes, but not limited to:

  • Vowelled letters, doubled letters (shaddah), and elongated sounds (madd)
  • Gradual progression from reading letters to words and then full sentences

Fluency Development:

Children are introduced to beginner-level booklets designed to take them from recognizing letters to reading short stories with confidence.

Memory and Enrichment through Poetry:

To enhance memory and language appreciation, children memorize a selection of age-appropriate Arabic poems and rhymes under a segment called Al-Mahfūzāt (Memorized Selections).

Writing

Arabic Handwriting Practice:

Writing lessons mirror the reading approach. Children learn to write what they read, beginning with single letters, then progressing to full words and simple sentences.

Dictation (Imlā’):

Dictation plays a central role in strengthening writing accuracy. Teachers begin with simple letters and gradually introduce:

  • Two- and three-letter combinations
  • Vowelled and doubled letters (shaddah)
  • Extended sounds
  • Eventually full words and sentences written independently

Listening

The listening component includes:

  • Recitations of selected Qur’anic verses
  • Prophetic hadiths
  • Moral and educational stories

Teachers read these texts aloud in a calm, expressive manner and provide brief, engaging explanations. Children are encouraged to share what they understand in their local language. Gradually, Arabic phrases and vocabulary are blended into lessons to ease the transition toward early Arabic comprehension, all within a faith-based educational setting.

Speaking & Conversation

Speaking skills are developed through simple classroom dialogues tailored to young learners. Each dialogue is:

  • Written on the board
  • Recited aloud and memorized
  • Copied into student notebooks
  • Practiced in pairs or groups for fluency and confidence.

This helps children become comfortable speaking Arabic and using it in everyday classroom interactions.

Structure

The Foundation or Pre-basic academic year is divided into three terms, each lasting four months, with additional time allocated for assessments and breaks. This structure supports steady progress, meaningful assessment, and regular rest for the children.
